Late Friday News - Two
Hello everyone, I’m finally back with new news :)
Moët Hennessy Annoucment
Moët Hennessy, the wine and spirits division of Louis Vitton, has pledged to reduce its carbon footprint, following the 1.5 degrees Celsius target. They have announced that they will reduce their greenhouse gases by 50%, mostly by doing the following four things:
Developing environmentally friendly packaging
Reducing the environmental impact of their raw materials
Using renewable energy
Promoting low-carbon forms of transportation
This announcement could be a start for a more environmentally friendly brand. Using new forms of energy and packaging in such a popular company like this could help reduce their carbon footprint and make the users feel sustainable.
However, I would also like to express a few concerns. Brands like these often use large amounts of leather and feathers in their products. Though their packaging and resources might have low carbon footprints, the materials of their products often also have harmful effects on the environment. Whether it is animal cruelty or over-killing animals, these “impacts” should also be addressed. Instead of committing to goals that brands around the world are doing, such as “promoting” low-carbon transportation, they should address the problem from the root.
Though this commitment could be a new start to a more sustainable future, we should also start committing to more useful goals, instead of “empty” ones.
Sorry, this is the only piece of news today. Hope you enjoyed it!
